BIO: DENNIS’ LIFE IN A NUTSHELL
 Dennis Huntington
|
He grew up in the state of Maine in the USA. After U.S. Navy service, various colleges and universities, he settled in San Francisco and the Bay Area. He held jobs with Lockheed Missiles & Space Co. and IBM in California. After graduate school in creative writing, he taught high school English in Oakland. Later, he moved to Japan and taught English in and around Tokyo.
Before the Tao, he was first
introduced to meditation at the Zazen Center in San Francisco by the famous author and Zen Master, D. T. Suzuki. Later, kundalini energy and out-of-body experiences arose through his hatha and pranayama yoga practice. His main influence for those practices came from Swami
Satchidananda’s
book, INTEGRAL
YOGA HATHA.
He received timely stimulus for astral travel, distance healing and mental telepathy thanks
to the influence of Dr. Lobsang Rampa in his book, THE RAMPA STORY.
In meditation, the third eye manifested along with inner visual experiences. That led to meditation of the Inner Light and Sound Current with guidance of Indian Masters.

 |
 |
| Master Kirpal Singh, 1894—1974.
Opened Dennis’ 3rd eye, appeared via inner vision and later in physical form gave him initiation in the meditation of the Inner Light & Sound current. |
|
| Grandmaster Sawan Singh, 1858—1948, appeared in the inner realm a few weeks after Dennis’ initiation in ‘72 and welcomed him with an embrace for his spiritual journey. |
|
| Master Ajaib Singh, “Sant Ji,” 1921—1993
Succeeded Master Kirpal Singh
Dennis contacted him in India’s Rajasthan desert area in 1976 and helped to bring him to the West. |

| Master Mantak Chia
Dennis’ Taoist mentor |
|
Dennis began the Tao practices of Master Mantak Chia in 1986 while living in Japan and became certified as a Universal Tao Instructor in 1992. He took up full-time residency at Tao Garden Health Spa & Resort in Thailand in 1998—present and became a Senior Instructor in the Universal Tao System in 2003. He also serves as a contributing writer and editor for Universal Tao Publications (Master Chia’s books, articles, etc).

|
He has made a video series in Japan of the basic Universal Tao practices. There are six videos with voice-over translation in Japanese language. They are in DVD format with three DVD’s in Volume I (Chi Kung Conditioning Exercises, Cosmic Inner Smile and Cosmic Six Healing Sounds) that was brought out in June, 2006. It is currently available in bookstores in Japan. Volume II contains Microcosmic Orbit Meditation, Iron Shirt Chi Kung, and Healing Love (sexual energy training). Volume II is available in Japan as of September, 2007. He is also working on a book to be completed in the coming year.
"I love doing and teaching this system of Chi meditations and exercises because they are so beneficial and important for every level of our integrated being,” he says. “They really bear fruit in the ultimate yin atmosphere of the Darkroom Retreats. The wonders of self-discovery abound in the inner light of the darkness. New life & new dimensions open.”

AMERICAN WOMAN FEEDBACK: "I want to thank you, Dennis, for your teaching this morning. I don't know what you do that's different from other teaching. But whatever it is, it's very nice. For me, it was very special, and I really do appreciate it. Thank you very much!"

|
| “When you were instructing me to do it … It was easy for me to be in it, to do it and to feel the energy.” |
|
|
Martin:
”For me, right from the start I felt the energy very strong and clear. It got even stronger as we went further along. By the end of the three and a half hours, it was just overwhelming. That was enough, and I was ready to stop. It was a powerful experience, and it was good. Going back to my room in the evening after my course with you, I sensed the energy was still around. It was actually making me aware of some of the blockages or problems that I have---which I take as a positive sign.
“It was good energy. At each stage when you were saying ‘you may feel this...,’ it was already there. This energy is very powerful. It has given me some clarification of my own energy. To be honest with you, sometimes I'm not sure. But when you actually did the same, it made me feel ah-h-h, wow! So, I was really happy with my experience.
I would recommend this to anybody. They are going to have to recognize that this is energy. This is a fantastic way to recognize it. Going through the organs—some organs, I didn't really feel it too much. If the first time the energy has come quite strong like doing it with you, then I assume that it can get stronger when working with it in the practice.
“There is a difference between picking up a piece of paper or a book and trying to do it-not stopping every minute to look at a piece of paper. And, to be able to look at the screen [of the computer] and just clarify what you're saying---it was already there. The pictures on the screen were clear. It was a very good way of learning it. I think that helped me to feel the energy as clear as I did. You actually felt it as well. You felt that there was a strong...”
Dennis:
"Yes, that's why I was mentioning it to you because for me it was, pr-r-r-r-r-ft [motorboat sound with lips], very strong!" This is part of what an instructor in this system should be able to do. If you have the energy, you can transmit it to the students to give them a boost."
Martin: “We've only touched on some of it. I get an energy that comes up and down my legs. I don't know where it's connected to, but it comes with working with a lot of energy.”
Dennis comments: "Well, there's Earth energy coming up."
Martin: “Sure, this has happened in the last two days. Before, I had no clarification of what it is.”
Dennis:
"The minute we just started those warm-up exercises in the beginning, then

[with the snapping of his fingers], boom! The energy was just strong and clear for me. That's the idea of standing in the relaxed Horse Stance and drawing the chi in, and then pushing it down as you exhale. This is also part of the cosmic aspect of the practice, you know, in the six-directions. You draw the energy up from below and down from above, etc. So, this is a facet of the Cosmic Inner Heart Smile and Cosmic Healing Sounds that we were doing. I'm glad that you were able to really tune in. I'm sure your previous energy work has enabled you to have a clearer ..."
Martin:
“It has, in a big way. This with you has helped me in a big way, too, with the Reiki. It's allowed me to be able to define lines. It also clarifies that this energy work is something good to be into. It's healthy. So this is good. Thank you. I hope to be back next trip for the Microcosmic Orbit! |

Dennis, thanks for an extremely interesting and informative workshop you conducted in Lismore recently [Oct. 13—15]. I felt honoured to be able to learn from you what I consider are vital life skills. I will certainly be recommending you to others. I hope the rest of your time in Australia was also beneficial. I hope others in the future appreciate your teachings as much as I do. |

I have been maintaining a reasonably regular practice of what you taught during the Lismore workshop, and have sourced a few of Mantak Chia’s books from the Internet.
I have been able to identify negative energies within some organs and work on removing them without the need to experience them as emotions. Some bodily discomforts are disappearing, and I have noticed quite a substantial increase in available energy. A dynamic woman was introduced into my life, and I have inspired a good friend in Sydney to pursue the practices.

Dennis rented a room in Don Riddington’s Australiawide Student Accommodation house in Melbourne for his visit there. A couple of days after he had filled out the application form and paid the rent, Don said to him, “You just might get your money back.”
Then he explained: “I’m thinking I might want to attend your workshop, if that would be possible. When I read your personal info on the application for the room, and seeing you here, I was quite impressed. I don’t know anything about the Tao things you do, but whatever it is, it seems to have worked for you! Maybe it would be good for me too.” He attended the workshop, extended his kindness and friendship as a host beyond the call of duty, and drove me to the airport upon my departure. A friend in deed!

|
| “I’m feeling so much in my whole body after all these years!” |
|
|
The workshop began with a 3-hour Friday night session. The evening concluded with guided practice combining the Inner Heart Smile meditation and the deletion process for trauma or extreme emotional/mental distractions. The room atmosphere was calm, subdued. Dennis asked, “Are there any questions?” No response. “Any comments?” More silence. Then he said, “Perhaps some members of the group have some experience. Would somebody care to share their experience with the group?”
One woman, Pauline, shyly raised her hand. She said, “I can feel my leg.” Dennis responded, “Oh? Is that unusual?”
“Yes,” Pauline replied, “I haven’t had any feeling in my left leg from the hip down since I was electrocuted twelve years ago. It’s a new experience to feel my leg again.”
The following day during the afternoon tea break, Pauline was by herself off to the side of the room with a somewhat withdrawn and forlorn demeanor. Dennis noticed her and approached her to see if there was something bothering her. He said, “You seem pretty quiet. Are you OK?”
Pauline: “Yes. It’s just that I don’t want to talk because I’m afraid if I start to speak, I’ll lose control and burst out crying. I’m feeling so much in my whole body after all these years! It feels so good!”

| CHRIS, FUSION WORKSHOP |
|
| “I was feeling the pakuas, the energy in my body, the forces. I finally got a taste of the real thing! I’m happy.” |
|
|
Chris is a renowned artist with many prestigious exhibits to her credit. A major project that she worked on for years is a collection of 64 spheres in which each one contained an artistically imprinted hexagram of the famous I Ching. In Taoist lore, the combinations of the 64 I Ching hexagrams serve as a ‘world formula’ for understanding all of life.
The conceptual significance of the I Ching in relation to our modern world of science is very tantalizing. It has become recognized that the combination of the codons in the DNA of the genetic code of our genes—and all of life—has a mathematical correspondence to the patterns of the hexagrams of the I Ching. This interests us in relation to our Taoist inner alchemy practices because our intention is to reprogram our DNA and improve our life by achieving good health, happiness, longevity and evolutionary spiritual refinement. This and other developments in science seem to provide modern support and credibility to help in understanding the experiences and wisdom claimed by Taoists of yore and of today.
In the Fusion Workshop, Dennis introduced the use of pakua images (eight–sided shapes surrounding a circular yin/yang symbol in the middle). Its use provides a powerful mechanism for processing energy in one’s body and for protection from adverse forces. The intention of the training was to mentally and energetically imprint the sensations of the pakua in one’s body in order to use them. Each of the eight sections of the figure contains a unique trigram combination of three broken and/or unbroken lines. These represent the eight elemental forces of the universe. He explained that this ancient symbol provides the basis for the 64 hexagrams of the I Ching via all the possible combinations of the eight trigrams.
Later in the workshop after the training to establish the pakuas in the body and then using them in guided meditations, Chris began to cry. Tearful sobbing was followed by body-heaving, moaning shudders. The intensity of emotional release passed. She collected herself and smiled, reassuring the members of the class that she was well and, in fact, happy.
She explained, “All those years of studying and struggling to understand and grasp the essence of the I Ching, it was inspiring. I worked hard physically creating the I Ching Spheres. It involved a lot of intellectualizing and conceptualizing, and I really dedicated myself with creative passion. But in my heart and in my gut, I felt incomplete, like I didn’t really get it. Something was missing in me and the reality for me was inspired, but still intellectual. I couldn’t get past that. All that past stuff was triggered and came out when I finally got a taste of the real thing.
“Today when we were meditating, for the first time, I was feeling the pakuas, the energy in my body, the forces. The subtle reality feels real! I feel happy.” |

| “I became clear, calm and peaceful. That was special for me!” |
|
|
The highlight of our Buenos Aires Basics Workshop for Carlos was clear. As a former karate world champion, he trained his body and mind in developing his skills in the Okinawa Karate style and form. Since then, he has become a skilled osteopathic practitioner, a talented Salsa dancer and an inveterate researcher for practical methods to enhance health and evolutionary life.
The day after the workshop, unsolicited, he commented: “One thing that made a big difference for me was that simple EMDR method that you used with the Inner Smile and Six Healing Sounds to calm the mind and emotions. I always find it difficult to sit down and do meditation. My mind is very full of thoughts and I can’t stop them. I can’t calm down and just sit and meditate. But when you led us through that method with the eyes, it was amazing! My mind calmed right down, and I could concentrate on my organs and my energy. I became clear, calm and peaceful. That was special for me!”

Dear Friends, Dennis Huntington is a well known Taoist Master, a chief instructor for Mantak Chia at Tao Garden in Thailand. I have attended one of his workshops in the past. It was excellent, and I strongly recommend it. In a short time he covered much ground but very thoroughly. The atmosphere and interaction was also very good. He is a person who really lives the Tao way for many years now and has covered many other practices such as yoga and various meditations, training with many masters around the world for the last 40 years.
